I don’t know about you, but I want to meet you folks. I have some ideas about that, and I know you do too. So let’s start kicking around some ideas.
1. Shall we gather?
2. Where?
3. When?
4. What for?
I have found, as you may well have too, that gathering around a project is more meaningful and worthwhile than gathering around information. Conversation is a given, but in these days, conversations need to be embodied. We can get to know one another while participating together in something that matters. You can share project ideas in response to #4 above.
I’ll post my ideas as comments start coming in.

Let’s collaborate on a map that shows our locations. Maybe a central location will present itself.

I like Michael’s idea. It would be helpful to see where everyone is. I would also wonder about meeting in conjunction with other meetings and conferences this summer. For instance, if all goes as planned, I will be at SoulFeast in Lake Junaluska, NC in July. Normally, I hang around the Raleigh/Durham, NC region.

A central location or piggy-backing on an event are good ideas.
What about a historically significant location? I am thinking of the value of symbolism here. One idea = Providence, RI (Significance of Roger Williams)
I may be getting too high-minded, but one thing I am interested in is cultivating a counter-narrative to what has been put forth publicly about Baptists for the last several decades. That may have more to do with my being in the south and may not carry much relevance for those of you up north and in Canada. Tell me what you think about that.
I have a hunch that there are many dispersed and displaced Baptists who would like for some to start articulating what I call a “third-way.” I think it may help us in reconnecting with the growing numbers who are dis-affiliating with our tradition. But maybe that doesn’t matter…I am open to hear from you on that. I still believe that there are enough persons in our historical past that make being “Baptist” worthwhile.
From Rwanda with love!

I like Michael Krahn’s suggestion as well. Putting a map showing everyone’s locations and then find out the most central area for meeting.
I also like Zach idea on a historically significant location as well.

Wonderful! I’m planning on going with the college & graduate students entourage June 15-20…maybe those who are planning on attending could meet up somewhere?

This may not be what everyone had in mind, but it could be a start for those attending

I am conferenced out for a good while. Too much travel lately. I think it would be a great idea for anyone going to Memphis to get together though. It could just be an informal hang-out time, or we can kick around dome objectives if you want some.
